A unique gift Swaminarayan Bhagwan gave to devotees is when they pass away, He personally comes to take them to Akshardham (His Abode). There are many experiences of the fulfillment of these blessings to this day.

During Swaminarayan Bhagwan's time, there was a devotee whose devotion pleased Swaminarayan Bhagwan. Swaminarayan Bhagwan told him to ask for whatever he wanted, but the devotee replied that he was happy with everything now, but requested that at the end of his life, Swaminarayan Bhagwan come to take him. Swaminarayan Bhagwan agreed and continued on His travels. The devotee soon married, but his wife passed away in a short time. At that time, the devotee was so upset that he cried out to Swaminarayan Bhagwan, asking Him to take his life instead. After some time, the devotee remarried. When Swaminarayan Bhagwan came to the devotee to take him to Akshardham, he requested that he be allowed to stay a little longer. Swaminarayan Bhagwan reminded him that just some time ago, he was crying to be taken away! But God agreed to come later, and blessed the couple to have a son also. Some time later, Swaminarayan Bhagwan returned, but this time with saints. Again the devotee complained that his son was still young, and that Swaminarayan Bhagwan should return after his son gets married. Brahmanand Swami told Swaminarayan Bhagwan that he knew a technique by which the devotee would come. When Swaminarayan Bhagwan agreed, Brahmanand Swami took the devotee's son and placed him on the plane to go to Akshardham. Surprisingly, the devotee said that it was fine because they could have another child. Brahmanand Swami again interjected, but this time requested Swaminarayan Bhagwan to put the devotee's wife on the plane. With this, the devotee agreed to also leave for Akshardham.
