Shikshapatri : Spiritual understanding

Gujarati English Swami Ni Vato Refs.

Verse 103
Dharma should be known as the good conduct expressed in the Shruti and Smruti (originally-heard and memorized scriptures). Bhakti should be known as great love for Shree Krishna Bhagwan supported by true knowledge of His glory. 8/22, 11/259
Verse 104
ane shreekrushna bhagavaana vinaa anya padaarthamaa preeti nahi te vairaagya jaanavo ane jeeva, maayaa ane eeshvara temanaa svaroopane je roodee reete jaanavu tene gnyaana kaheee. Vairaagya should be known as as not having a liking for anything except Shree Krishna Bhagwan. Comprehensive knowledge of the forms of jiva (souls), maya (illusion), and Ishvar (God) is gnyaan. 8/22, 11/259
Verse 105
ane je jeeva chhe te hradayane vishe rahyo chhe ne anu sarakho sukshma chhe ne chaitanyaroopa chhe ne jaananaaro chhe. ane potaanee gnyaanashaktie kareene nakhathee shikhaaparyanta samagra potaanaa deha pratye vyaapeene rahyo chhe ane achhedhya, abhedhya, ajara, amara ityaadika chhe lakshana jenaa, evo jeeva chhe ema jaanavo. And the jiva, which resides in the heart, is minutely subtle. It is the pure spirit and the knower. And by its strength of knowing, it pervades the entire body from toe to head, and should be known to have qualities such as being indivisible, indestructible, non-aging, and eternal.
Verse 106
And maya should be known to be composed of the three gunas (modes of nature - sattva, raajas, taamas). It is full of darkness (or ignorance) and is the power of Shree Krishna Bhagwan. It is that which makes the soul identify and attach with the body and its relations.
Verse 107
And just as the soul dwells in the heart, Ishvar should be known to omnisciently dwell in the soul (or as a witness of the inner-self). It is independent and is the giver of fruit to the soul, according to the karma (deeds) of the soul.
Verse 108
And that Ishvar is Shree Krishna Bhagwan (Shree Swaminarayan Bhagwan), who is supreme Parabrahm Purushottam, our Ishtadev (principal deity), worthy of worship, and the cause of all incarnations.
Verse 109
And when supreme Shree Krishna is with Radhikaji He should be known by the name RadhaKrishna, and when He is with Rukmani (who is Lakshmiji), He should be known by the name LakshmiNarayan. 5/427, 11/259
Verse 110
And when that Shree Krishna is with Arjun, He should be known by the name NaraNarayan, and when with Balabhadra (or Balarama, Shree Krishna's elder brother) and others, He is known by various other names. 5/427, 11/259
Verse 111
And Radhikaji and such devotees, are sometimes at the side of Shree Krishna Bhagwan, and sometimes by great love, remain as one with Shree Krishna Bhagwan - at such times, Shree Krishna Bhagwan should be considered as being alone. 5/427, 11/259
Verse 112
For that reason, all the various forms of Shree Krishna Bhagwan should be known to be the same. And perceived differences such as having 4 arms, 8 arms, or 1000 arms, should be known to occur solely by the will of Shree Krishna Bhagwan who originally has 2 arms. 5/427, 11/259
Verse 113
And everyone on this earth should offer devotion to that Shree Krishna Bhagwan and know that apart from devotion, there is no other means to attain liberation.
Verse 114
ane vidhyaadika gunavaalaa je purusha temanaa gunavaanapanaanu e ja parama phala jaanavu, kayu to je shreekrushna bhagavaanane vishe bhakti karavee ne satsanga karavo ane ema bhakti ne satsanga e be vinaa to vidvaana hoya te pana adhogatine paame chhe. The ultimate result of intelligence and like qualities is devotion to Shree Krishna Bhagwan and satsang (saintly association). For without devotion and satsang, even a learned person descends on the spiritual path. 5/427
Verse 115
And Shree Krishna Bhagwan and Shree Krishna Bhagwan's incarnations alone are worthy of meditation. Similarly, Shree Krishna Bhagwan's images are worthy. And men or demigods, even if they are devotees of Shree Krishna Bhagwan or brahmavettaa (knower of divinity), they are still not worthy of meditation - and thus one should not meditate upon them.
Verse 116
Understanding the soul to be brahmaroopa and separate from the three bodies (gross, subtle, and causation), at all times, offer devotion to Shree Krishna Bhagwan. 11/259
Verse 119
ane kashtanee denaaree evee koee daivasambandhee aapadaa aavee pade tathaa manushyasambandhee aapadaa aavee pade tathaa rogaadika aapadaa aavee pade tene vishe jema potaanee ne beejaanee rakshaa thaaya tema vartavu pana beejee reete na vartavu. And if troubles due to demigods (e.g. natural calamities), (other) people, or diseases are experienced, then behave such that one self and others are saved, but not otherwise.
Verse 120
And in matters of conduct, social affairs, and repentance, know the appropriate actions according to the place and time and according to one's age, means, caste, and capacity.
Verse 121
And know that My philosophy is vishisht-advait (special-oneness: in devotion, the devotee identifies with God, but God still infinitely transcends all). Also, know that I prefer the heaven of Golok and I believe mukti (liberation) to be the brahmaroopa service of Shree Krishna Bhagwan.
